Rag & Bone
The SS17 collection is a pivotal moment in the label’s 15 year history. This is the first solo collection by Brit Marcus Wainwright after the departure of founding partner David Neville from the label. So it’s an opportunity for a re-boot and some soul searching by the brand which is known for fusing British heritage with New York street-style edge.
The SS17 collection aims to re-imagine the classic all-American college preppy look through a twisted lens; which translates into pinstripe shirtdresses, oversize collegiate v-neck cricket sweaters, cargo pants and chinos. The collection mines key trends including the athletic trend with its matching sweats and varsity jackets. Wainwright also gives a nod to the 1990s with 8 ball bomber jackets, a key piece this season, and adds into the mix some beautiful floral dresses for a cool music festival vibe.
Brand signatures remain with the English public schoolboy look (think school uniform and dandyish striped boating blazers), expert tailoring, utilitarian workwear and military touches.
The label with its downtown urban aesthetic sits within the contemporary category.
